ideaBOX was founded on the belief that most organizations are managing cybersecurity as a technical problem, when it should be managed as a financial one. James Oliverio began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, rising to Managing Director and Division CIO over 14 years before leading IT for UBS Investment Banking. He later founded and sold a successful IT Managed Services firm.

Following Harvard's Information Risk Management & Cybersecurity program, James pioneered the Return on Mitigation (ROM) framework — the first methodology to quantify cybersecurity investment in pure financial terms.

He serves as Senior Advisor and Channel Evangelist at Actifile, whose Data Instrumentation platform powers the ROM Diagnostic's scanning engine. All ideaBOX engagements are led directly by James.
